• Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act (LHWCA) – This act provides certain workers' compensation benefits for maritime workers who are not seamen and who are not covered by the Jones Act.
• General Maritime Law – If a seaman becomes sick or injured during the course of his employment, regardless of fault, maritime laws ensure that he is legally entitled to living expenses, lost wages, and medical care.
